After the ceremony, the officiant would sign the marriage license. You would then return the marriage license to the county clerks office for it to be officially recorded. As of 2019 Alabama is different from other states because Alabama does not require couples to obtain a marriage license. List of Eligibility Requirements
Both parties must be at least 16 years old to get married in Alabama. Parental consent is required if an applicant is considered a minor (under the age of 18.) An affidavit of consent of marriage for a minor form must be signed by a parent or guardian for anyone under the age of 18. Both the Marriage Certificate form and the Affidavit of Consent will need to be filed together at a county probate court.
